Recent restorations on Michelangelo's famous sculpture have resulted in a
shocking discovery! Apparently, the face of David was a cheap plaster mask
applied by late 16th century burglars in order to disguise the statue while
they smuggled it out of Florence. Shown below (in slightly censored
format) is the strikingly handsome face Michelangelo originally carved for
the sculpture. Art historians are frantically researching the identity of
this model so that the statue may be renamed after its rightful likeness.
