Our wedding will take place on Labor Day weekend. The ceremony and reception will be held on Sunday, September 1, but we hope most guests can come early to spend time with us on Saturday, or stay late to have brunch on Monday morning.
There will be a picnic in the afternoon at the Longbranch Park in Liverpool, NY. Come ready to eat, play games, and hang out.
A rehearsal will be held at Hendricks Chapel for members of the wedding party. It is expected to take about an hour. You should be able to park on campus near the chapel.
The wedding party and some of our family members will be attending a rehearsal dinner at 7:30 at the Hunan Empire Restaurant.
Other folks will fend for themselves for dinner. The Dinosaur Barbeque is a local landmark. Otherwise, I'm sure the concierges know the good spots around town.
After dinner, those with the stamina will find a place to congregate. We will meet at around 10:00 in the lobby of the Sheraton. Come prepared with all those compromising stories as we come prepared to deny them.
While the girls are getting their hair done, the rest of the guests can spend the morning having fun. One option is a visit to the New York State Fair, which will be featuring the ever popular "best in agricultural and livestock" competition. Christine would like to add, "No, no, don't be sarcastic! The fair is really fun. No, Doug, it really is good. I would go two, three, four times a year." Christine would also like to add, "Doug has never been so he doesn't know what he has been missing out on." Or check out the Museum of Science and Technology, or some of the other places of interest in the area.
The wedding ceremony will be held at 3pm at Hendricks Chapel on the Syracuse University campus. Parking is available near the chapel.
The wedding reception will be held at the Lafayette Country Club. There will be a babysitter and an adjacent room for children.
After the reception, the diehard few will retire to the bar at the Sheraton University Hotel for some final revelry.
Those who stay through Monday morning can join us for a casual brunch since we won't be sneaking off to our honeymoon until later that day.
